Rome - Beloved by children, passion for adults, Chupa Chups, the sugar ball with white stick is 50 years old: a record for the round lollipops. Spanish born and Dutch-Italian (Perfetti Van Melle), it has incredibly managed to stay on the international confectionery market, where products remain at the top for a short time.
In 1958 Enric Bernat had a brilliant idea to put a stick in a candy so that children wouldn't dirty their hands, making mothers and children happy. In 1969 Salvator Dalì designed the Chupa Chups logo that quickly became a phenomenon of the twentieth century custom, launched on the market with the slogan "És rodó i dura molt, Chupa Chups", which in Catalan means "It's so round and lasts so long, Chupa Chups".
In honor of round lollipops Barcelona held a big birthday party, the Chupa Chups 50th Anniversary Concert, broadcast live on the entire MTV South Europe network and a recording in Russia.
