Rome - ‘Made un Italy' ice cream exports rise throughout the world with an increase of 43% in value, while in Italy the coming of the heat push up the sales, a Coldiretti's survey reveals. According to the survey, based on Istat data relating to January 2009, in 2008 shipments abroad have touched for the first time 200 million euro. Nearly 90% of exports are addressed - stresses Coldiretti - to the countries of the European Union and France, Germany and Spain are the main countries of consumption.
Among the trends of the new season, alongside the traditional supply, in Italy in 2009 - states Coldiretti - we have watched the sunset of the "artificial" flavours, like 'smurf', and a rediscovery of the seasonal tastes, made with typical products of the territory. The preparation of homemade ice cream, that allows a careful selection of ingredients - according to Coldiretti - is growing. The annual consumption of ice cream is estimated in Italy - Coldiretti concludes - in more than 15 kilos per person for a fee of EUR 5 billion for the purchase of cups, cones, sticks and trays, of which 60% for artisanal and 40% industrial ice cream.
