Held for the fourteenth time this year, the Helsinki Beer Festival brings together all friends of beer at the Cable Factory. The people at Helsinki Beer Festival wish to offer their audience many enjoyable moments with different kinds of beers, ciders, and whiskeys.
This year's special theme at the Helsinki Beer Festival is wheat beer. Wheat beer has been brewed for a very long time. However, its popularity seemed to be waning at some point. Now, its popularity has been growing for several decades.
In addition to wheat beers, the Helsinki Beer Festival features a real ale bar and a real cider bar among other specialties.
As in previous years, Finnish micro breweries as well as large breweries are featured predominantly at the festival. Larger breweries are represented in individual sections, while the micro breweries are all assembled into the "World of Micro Breweries". In addition, all significant importers are represented at the festival.
The festival once again features the Beer of the Year competition. The best cider and whisky of the festival are also chosen.
The beers are sold in portions of 0.2 liters and 0.4 liters and are served in glasses specially made for the festival. A deposit of € 4 is charged for the glass, of which € 3 is refunded upon return. It is also possible to keep the glass as a souvenir. As usual, the food menu is adjusted to match the beers, and it ranges from small snacks to warm meals.
